The Cambridge Audio Edge A integrated amplifier is all about detail. Detail pertaining to the music you love and important elements such as the decay of notes, the textures of a snare drum, the projection of a guitar chord, the brassy tone of a saxophone, the rosiny register of a violin, the phrasing of a vocalist. And detail as applied to the exacting, from-the-ground-up build of an integrated amplifier made to surpass every other model in Cambridge Audio's 50-year history. Developed by ear over the course of more than three years by nine engineers, Edge A exclusively features blind-tested components and a hyper-clean signal path that result in tremendous musicality, breathtaking balance, and effortless power. Steeped in audio tradition yet also conscientious of modern needs, Edge A even touts aptX HD that allows you to stream your music from any Bluetooth device at up to 24-bit/48kHz.
Created to go beyond the conventional to offer exceptional presence, clarity, resolution, and dynamics, the capacitor-free Edge A utilizes opposing-symmetry twin toroidal transformers that cancel out electromagnetic interference all the while preserving tonal coherence and every last bit of power output no matter how hard you push the amplifier. And this beast continuously outputs 200W at four ohms and 100W at eight ohms. Distortion has also been reduced to inaudible levels via a unique bias voltage addition to the Class AB design that results in Cambridge's proprietary Class XA system. DC-coupled topology in the printed circuit board further defeats noise and hum while a solid-state, dual concentric control knob assembled in the U.K. from 31 precision-milled aerospace-grade-material parts handles both volume and source-selection functions to ensure a supreme intuitive user interface.
